SCRIPTURE
Hebrews 13:8 – “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
INTRODUCTION
Imagine standing on the shore, watching the ocean waves crash against the rocks. The tide rises and falls, the wind changes direction, and the clouds drift across the sky. Everything around you is in motion—constantly evolving.
But then you notice the rock beneath your feet: solid, unmoved, unshaken by the waves. That rock is a picture of Jesus Christ—unchanging in a world of constant change.
As we step into 2026, economies will shift, technology will advance, and even our own plans may change. But there is one truth that will never change: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Looking back at 2025, it was not an easy year. We faced many difficulties, unexpected challenges, and moments that tested our strength and faith.
Yet every step of 2025 had purpose. Through every season, the unseen hand of God was there
• guiding us with care,
• leading us with love, and
• directing us with wisdom.
The world around us often lives without hope—chasing pleasures that fade away. You and I are different. We live with expectation, looking forward and trusting Him to guide us as we step into 2026.
Nothing in our lives goes unnoticed by God. He sees every detail. We find true greatness not in what we own, but in who walks beside us. Jesus walks with us because He loves us deeply and considers us precious. Amen.
So today, let us fix our hearts on this unshakable truth: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
1. WE ARE NOT CONSUMED – God’s Love Is Unchanging
Malachi 3:6 – “I the Lord do not change. Therefore, you are not consumed.”
God’s love is unchanging, and He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Therefore, we are not consumed.
The reason for our strength and ability to endure challenges is not because we have been perfect or always faithful to God.
If our standing depended on our own efforts, we would have fallen long ago. Instead, it is God’s unchanging love and unwavering commitment that keep us secure. His love does not fluctuate based on our performance. It is steady, like an anchor in a storm.
Because of His unchanging love, His plan for you did not begin this year; it began before the foundations of the world and has never changed.
God’s purpose for your life is not something He decided yesterday or when you were born. Scripture reveals that God formed His plan for you before He created the world.
Ephesians 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
Your life is not an accident. God has known every detail—your gifts, your calling, and your journey—from eternity. You are part of a divine design that stretches beyond time.
The Bible describes God’s love as everlasting
Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you
It has no beginning and no end. It is not temporary or conditional. Unlike human love, which can fade or fail, God’s love is eternal and unchanging. This everlasting love is the reason trials, failures, or fears do not consume you.
Bible Illustration – Israel in the Wilderness
The people of Israel walked slowly in a vast desert stretching endlessly under a burning sun. Their lips became dry and their bodies weary. Complaints rise like dust in the wind—grumbling about food, water, and the journey ahead. At times they rebel, at times they doubt, and often they fail.
By human reasoning, they should have perished in that harsh wilderness. Yet they did not. Why? Because God does not change. His covenant love held them firm, even when they were undeserving. His mercy became their shelter, and His faithfulness their daily bread.
Families today often wander, but in 2026, God desires to turn every household into a spiritual home. Amen.
Joshua 24:15 – “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
God’s unchanging love brings Rest for restless hearts (like Hagar finding water in the wilderness) and builds broken lives.
If 2025 left you weary or spiritually dry, hear God’s promise for 2026: “I will give you rest, and I will build your life.”
2. GOD GIVES GOOD GIFTS – His Generosity Never Changes
James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning
God never changes—there is no variation or shadow of turning in Him. His generosity remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. Because of this, He blesses us with good gifts. Even before He created humanity, God prepared everything humanity would need.
Bible Illustration – Creation Before Adam
Before God created Adam, He had already planted gardens, formed rivers, caused fruit trees to grow, and filled the earth with light. God had incredible foresight before humanity even existed. God prepared everything necessary for life.
In Genesis 1–2, we see that:
• Light was created first (Genesis 1:3), so Adam would wake up to a world of brightness, not darkness.
• The earth was filled with vegetation—fruit trees, plants, and seeds—providing food and beauty.
• Rivers flowed through the garden (Genesis 2:10), ensuring water for life and growth.
• Before Adam ever took his first breath, God had already established a perfect environment.
God’s provision is proactive. He doesn’t wait for a need to arise before acting; He anticipates and prepares in advance.
God’s preparation wasn’t random; He is careful and full of loving generosity. Every detail of creation reflects His care:
• Order and beauty: The garden wasn’t just functional; it was delightful (Genesis 2:9 says the trees were “pleasant to the sight”).
• Abundance: Adam didn’t wake up hungry or thirsty; everything he needed was ready.
• Purpose: Even work was prepared for Adam (Genesis 2:15)—to tend and keep the garden, giving him meaning.
God’s nature is generous and thoughtful. He provides not only what we need to survive but what we need to flourish.
Human promises fail—but God never fails. People may say, “I’ll help you,” and forget. But God never forsakes His children.
In this new year, God knows your needs, He hears your prayers, and He provides for you at the right time.
Because He is unchanging, we can confidently cast all our cares upon Him. He will care for you and provide for you.
3. NO CURSE CAN STAND – God Does Not Repent of His Blessing
Numbers 23:19-20 God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.
God does not repent of His blessings. Once He has blessed, He cannot reverse it. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Therefore, no curse can stand against us.
Spiritual opposition is real, but it is not ultimate. The enemy may try to intimidate, discourage, or derail you, but he cannot overturn what God has decreed. Weapons may form, and attacks may come, but they will not succeed because God’s word stands stronger than any curse.
Because God does not change, no curse, no darkness, and no spiritual opposition can overpower His blessing upon your life. Amen.
Bible Illustration – Balaam and Israel
Balak, the king of Moab, feared Israel because they were numerous and victorious. Balak believed that if he could curse Israel, he could weaken and defeat them. So, Balak hired Balaam, a prophet-for-hire, to pronounce a curse over Israel (Numbers 22–24).
Balaam climbed to the mountaintop overlooking Israel’s camp. Balak expected words of destruction to come from Balaam’s mouth. But when Balaam opened his mouth, something unexpected happened; blessings came out instead of curses.
Why? Because Balaam could only speak what God allowed him to speak. God had already blessed Israel, and nothing could reverse His blessing.
Numbers 23:8 – “How can I curse whom God has not cursed? And how can I denounce whom the LORD has not denounced?”
No human effort, no spiritual attack, and no dark scheme can override God’s decision to bless His people.
Balaam’s words were powerless against God’s decree. God’s unchanging nature is locked in the blessing.
God’s blessing is stronger than any curse. Even when enemies plot against you, they cannot undo what God has spoken over your life.
Spiritual opposition cannot override divine authority.
The enemy may try to intimidate or discourage you, but God’s word stands firm.
If God says you are blessed, no one can declare otherwise. Amen.
Many believers live in fear, afraid that darkness will overcome them. But the God who blessed you will not change His mind. What God has declared over your life cannot be reversed.
During this coming year, walk in faith, not fear, reject every voice of defeat and trust the unchanging word of the Lord. God blesses you to be a blessing to this world. Amen.
4. GOD IS ETERNAL – Our Hope Is Secure Forever
Psalm 102:27 – “You are the same, and Your years will have no end.”
This reveals that God never changes and that His faithfulness forms the foundation of our hope.
When the psalmist says, “You are the same,” it means God’s character never shifts. He does not wake up one day less loving or less powerful.
His promises do not expire. Amen.
We do not place our hope in daily-changing circumstances; we place our hope in a God who never changes. If He was faithful yesterday, He will be faithful today and tomorrow. The same Jesus who healed, forgave, and provided in Scripture is still doing the same today.
Everything else—nations, systems, even the earth—will pass away, but God remains. If our hope were in temporary things (money, health, success), it would collapse when those things fail. But because God’s reigns and His promises are everlasting, our hope is secure forever.
Isaiah 40:8 says: “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.”
During 2026,
• When life feels uncertain, hope in God who does not change, He is still the same.
• When the future looks frightening, hope reminds you that God’s years have no end—He will always be there.
• When everything around us is shaken, hope declares that our anchor is in the One who never moves.
An unchanging God holds your 2026; therefore, you can face tomorrow with confidence and courage.
Even if:
• A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand
• Even if the world grows darker
• Even if systems collapse, we stand firm—our hope is anchored in an unchanging God. Amen.
CONCLUSION – Living 2026 with Confidence
As we step into a new year, let this truth be in our hearts:
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
We do so with confidence—not because life will be easy, but because God does not change.
We are still standing today because the Lord has not changed. We are not consumed, not abandoned, and not defeated—because His love is everlasting.
What He planned for your life before the foundation of the world is still His plan today.
• The God who provided before will provide again. The God who blessed you will not take His blessing back.
• The God who protected you will continue to protect you.
• What God has spoken over your life cannot be reversed, cancelled, or destroyed.
• Even when the world is shaken, God remains the same.
• Even when circumstances change, His promises do not change.
• Even when people fail us, God never fails.
So people of God,
• Live with faith.
• Live with hope.
• Live with total trust in the Lord.
• If God has brought you this far, He will take you forward.
• If He has sustained you until now, He will sustain you still.
• Your future is safe because an unchanging God holds it.
Let us move into this new year
trusting Him fully,
serving Him faithfully, and
hoping in Him confidently,
because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Amen.
In 1912, the Titanic was called “unsinkable.” People boarded with confidence, believing nothing could shake that mighty ship.
But history tells us that even the strongest human structures can fail. Contrast that with the words of Jesus: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.” (Matthew 24:35)
As we enter 2026, storms may come, and systems may collapse, but we stand firm, anchoring our hope in an unchanging Christ.
He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
